He Slept on 57 - Turn Your Back On All We Know
Scotland has bought us the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Primal Scream and Travis to name but a few. Now there is about to be an addition to the long running musicians from the Highlands of Scotland by the name of He Slept on 57.
What makes this Scottish three piece stand out from the long list of other bands attempting their luck the industry is their additional elements to the alternative style they use as a basis, this can be heard through their debut three track release ‘Turn Your Back On All We Know’. There are consistent heavy guitars punching out some strong riffs as well as the deafening raw of the drumming such as on ‘Watching The World’, but there is the addition of something a little sweeter on the other two tracks. The opener ‘Your Faint Memory’ has all the above but includes a beautiful string arrangement which is subtle in some segments while really pulls you in others. Likewise, ‘Drink Your Sorrow’ uses simple chimes to gain your attention.
He Slept on 57 has obviously been working hard since forming little over a year ago. Be ready with you nets as this band is going to be flying in your direction very soon.
