Electro legend

John Foxx and the Maths release debut singles ‘Destination’ and ‘September Town’ which brings together the already highly acclaimed John Foxx with analogue synthesizer player and producer, Benge. As you would expect with the pair the music leans so heavily on the electronic sound it is practically lying down.

‘Destination’ kicks off with some real electronic delight and it is from this that you can clearly see where such legends as Gary Numan obtained their sound. The song builds gradually as it proceeds into a crescendo of synthesizers, which busy itself into your emotions. Impressive stuff.

‘September Town’ is a bit more experimental in its sound. Now all I can think of when listening to this track is Flight of the Conchords, not meaning this in a bad way but just feels that all is missing is some witty lyrics from Brett and Jermaine but that should not take away from the enjoyment it still creates. One thing will never be in doubt, the former Ultravox supremo proves he can still create some classy electronic music.
