Black Mountain – Old Fangs
Canadian psychedelic band Black Mountain release their new album 'Wilderness Heart' on September 13th and as a taster they have made a track from it called 'Old Fangs' available for download via their Myspace page. The are about to embark on a huge tour starting in the USA and taking in Ireland, UK Europe, Scandinavia, returning to more US dates before finishing off in Vancouver; they are serious about getting noticed.
The track is a timeless piece, heavily influenced by the late 60's and 70's British psychedelic sound. The heavy and chunky John Lord sounding keyboards set the mood as do the heavy guitar chords and catchy vocals. The band don't just imitate the sounds of the past, they play about with melodies and tweak the mood to give a very nice psychedelic atmosphere whilst keeping the emphasis on delivering this over a great rock backing; a great track. I can't wait for the album.
