Super catchy
A nice fuzzy, crunchy beat opens 'Is This Love' from London alt-popsters Rubicks; distorted, emotionally charged and slightly husky female vocals and an infectious beat lead the tune and make it oh so danceable. Lyrically the track is heartbreaking, dealing with love and the death of someone close, but impossibly the band has turned this angst into a super catchy track with nods to Blondie and Siouxsie Sioux and a strong electro edge, meaning it's more interesting than your average electro-pop tune; really addictive. 'B' side, 'Dragons' takes the pace down, with a slower electro beat, fantastic, sexy vocals from Anne Redd soar and you have time to sit back and think. Great stuff.
