Fantastic melodies

The six track EP from Bristol four piece is excellent; pop-rock with a jangly 90s kind of indie edge, possibly partly due to the raw, lo-fi production which only adds to the charm of the whole thing. Epic titled opener 'Daylight The Fireworks, Daylight The ****ing Fireworks' is a beautiful intro to the record, a nod to post-rock instrumentals, with some gorgeous, heady, sweeping riffage which breaks into a barrage of shouts right at the end.

The rest of the EP is more melodic and poppy; 'Cold Shoulder' has an instantly memorable melody; sweet vocals over solid guitars and drums and a danceable rhythm make this a real anthem. A lovely riff starts 'Nothing To Do With Love' again this track is super catchy with a classic sing a long chorus, this lot really knows how to write a great melody. Keyboard adds an extra layer to the sound on the poppy 'You Know You Know', 'You've Really Done It This Time' is a slower number, again great guitar work and a memorable central tune. Final track 'This Isn't Over' closes the EP well with a nice indie fuzz coating this tracks layers with the steady beat and catchy vocal line making you bop along. Daylight Fireworks seem to have an endless supply of hooky tunes and memorable riffs, excellent stuff and recommended.
