Not For Kids

It is always nice to hear something different, someone who tears up the rule book that seems to be issued to bands when they start detailing the formula that songs have to follow. Lupen Crook has been his own man since 2005, creating music as if it is a work of art. Now, as we all know, modern art is never going to be for everyone. I mean, to this day I still have no idea why the 'experts' got excited over 'My Bed' by Tracey Emin as it just resembled, well my bed.

With music on the other hand, its good to have something new, like a breath of fresh air, although fresh air with a very adult theme. Taken from his recent album "The Pros and Cons of Eating Out", 'Dorothy Deserves' could be considered a heart warming tale of love for the said Dorothy. Once you see the video you are then aware of the hidden message that lies within. The lyrics fit perfectly with the foot tapping music, which never becomes anything heavy, just gentle alternative rock.

We will ignore the second of the four tracks, 'Statement Of Dyscontent', which although is funny, it is equally irrelevant.

The real back up tracks, 'Kid On Fire' and 'Teddy Fucker' both deal with, as their titles hint, more adult related themes, again both tunes fit the words and subject matter. Both are a little rockier than the opener and all in all, the three tunes make a great release.
