Southern rock and country just became seriously cool

There is only one cure for winter blues and that's a heavy dose of southern rock played at deafening volume. Fortunately our very own UK has blessed us with a 7-piece southern rock boogie band in the form of MelonHeadMan, and they have the prescription we need.

Single 'Medicine Man' is a funky modernised take on the style that wears its heart on its ripped sleeve. If you don't wanna get up and shake to this, you have no soul and we have nothing else to say. There are always going to be comparisons to Skynyrd and Black Oak Arkansas, but MHM also include the up-to-date vibes of the likes of Black Stone Cherry and some neat rhythmic twists of their very own.

'Hunting Crows' is more dark country rock that exudes energy and doesn't take itself too seriously. There's some deceptively complex guitar work that anyone can appreciate, and the change in style shows potential to develop rather than sink into novelty.

Back to the straightforward rockn'roll with 'Boogie City', with its irresistible beats and groovin' riffs. Guaranteed to stick in the head for days. They create a solid wall of sound (well, there are 7 of them!) and a unique sound in a tricky genre. A fantastic recommendation for their album 'The Good & The Bad'.
