The final in the trilogy

Due to the differing musical talents behind Goodluck Jonathan - indie, dance, thrash metal and rock - the band decided to release all their early material in three mini-collections of music – a trilogy if you like. 'This Is Our Way Out EP 3' is the third and final EP release in the trilogy.

As far as openers go 'Mad Licks' is not as enticing as one may have hoped. It is fairly slow moving with the vocals afloat, the chorus however is the high point as it is much more punchy. 'Stop' is much livelier, opening with the rattle of guitars a solid rock platform on which to build their growing sound. It is strong with vocals not so much singing the lyrics but saying them aggressively to some degree.

'Broken Heart (bretonLABS remix)' is one of those pointless tracks that some bands put on the end of a release for the sake of it. The original version of the track was on 'EP1' and this version does nothing for the other three tracks. It is jumbled with sounds, squeaks and taps, howls and bleeps and to be honest ruins the enjoyment of the release. The concluding tune is the title track for all three releases 'This Is Our Way Out'. It opens with spoken words before sound kicks its way through, making quite a powerful impression. Unfortunately this is pretty much where the lyrics end and the music continues for about another two minutes undisturbed.

Separately there is some difficulty in fully enjoying each of the three releases. However, there are plans to release the EPs as one album, also entitled 'This Is Our Way Out', later in the spring. Hopefully when gathered on one CD the tracks will be able to come together in synchronisation and complement each other well, giving a full and impressionable sound of the band.
