Awesome Examples Of Great Song Writing Skills

The four-piece alt-rockers from Leeds, Down The Machine, released their debut single, 'Losing Faith', back in June 2010. They have Matt Collinge on drums, Neil Short on bass and Dan Millikin on the chugging guitar whilst Steve Wilson provides the solid vocals. Down The Machine is signed to indie label, Ambicon Records.

The band reminds me a lot of early Soundgarden with their energy expressed in 'Losing Faith'. The track builds up to a catchy and radio friendly crescendo whilst Wilson delivers the simple yet melancholy lyrics.

The song is filled with some awesome examples of great song writing skills. This is demonstrated with lyrics such as "On the way down I swear I see you looking back at me..." taken from the chorus and taken as describing the emotions of losing faith.

'Losing Faith' is a rapid, solid dosage of alt-rock. DTM will go far with their dark and moody, yet catchy and effective hooks. I am keen to hear their debut album.
