Solid Alt-Rock

Motion Theory's sound is unmistakably British; vocally as well as instrumentally the Manchester mob have a distinctive charm, with slow builds, an open expansive sound and the odd dramatic guitar solo thrown in for good measure. They bring to mind Muse occasionally, but the tunes on this EP are less showy and more delicate in construction; often allowing you time to sit back and think about them rather than being overwhelmed.

This new EP follows on from their debut album "Featherhead" and doesn't disappoint, delivering on the promise of that record with five juicy alt-rock numbers. Amongst the best of these is 'Sure Its Chaos But It's Ours' which breaks into a dramatic, melodic chorus flanked on either side by effective minimal sections with nicely paced riffs to nod your head to. Overall an effective EP, the live track 'Anima', right in middle of the record isn't very well placed as it slow things down too much, but that's a minor gripe in an otherwise solid release.
