Not to be missed!

North-west five piece The Dusk have been playing together for little over a year, debuting their talents live for the first time in February 2011, yet have done wonders on this debut, which combines elements of indie, electro and rock.

'Falling' is the opener on this record and is a mesmerising mix of indie with a spoonful of electronica. The vocals of James Grierson are able to sit steadily on top of the rumbling music to form a stable balance between the two. The electronically infused 'The Other Side' follows this and although beautiful in all other ways the squeaky electronica is overpowering on this number particularly. 'It Comes Again' opens like the credits of Holby City, Casualty or another emergency service television programme which instantly grabs your attention. This sharpness remains on the chorus, but eases up for the verses to equal out the stability nicely. 'Therapy' produces more of the indie vibes than its predecessors, which was pleasant to hear and demonstrates the versatile nature of the band. 'Voices' opens with a beautiful piano melody, to which is added a much stronger and forceful guitar segment, creating a puzzle for the ears to decipher. The concluding track on this release is 'Enough To Tell', a gentle guitar ballad and something that is a millions miles apart from what has been heard to this point; it was a wonderful way to end.

Taking into consideration the duration these guys have actually been able to call themselves 'a band', it is surprising how integrated they sound together. They have been able to produce a record that combines many elements of music - guitar driven melodies, synth, electronica, more tender piano and guitar as well as Grierson's vocals, and done something magical with the talents they have been given.
