This is how great music is made
Following up a highly acclaimed debut EP is hard enough but try doing it with the added pressure of having just had a track reach number two in the iTunes chart in your native country and that makes the task even more daunting. Thankfully Charlotte Eriksson is one of those rare breeds, she has the complete package. Not only has she got an amazing voice but has the ability to conjure up lyrics that Messrs Lennon and McCartney could only dream of, assuming their dreams were a little on the creepy side.
"This Is How Ghosts Are Made" is five tracks ranging from the rockier 'Tell The World' and 'Best Part Of Me' to the slower 'Hypnic Jerk'. One thing that remains throughout the EP is that the lyrics are beautifully written and tell stories that are captivating and compelling like "I can't decide what's real or I just read, I think I made you up inside my head" on 'Insanity'. Ms Eriksson's music is about life, real life, not any of those cheesy lines you hear so many singers come out with day in and day out which mean nothing. When you add to that the quality musicianship of each member of the band and you have the perfect ingredients for one of the best releases of the year.
