Sights & Sounds - Silver Door

After recently touring with none other than Bring Me The Horizon, Sights & Sounds continue on with their UK success with the release with of their EP Silver Door.

Opening the release is the guitar solo of Poli's Song. Musically the song is powerful, starting with just a simple guitar melody then building. As the vocals kick in they are a little rough around the edges - combining some rough with some smooth tones that after a while begin to grow on you. As the harmonies are introduced the magnitude of what Sights & Sounds create is truly revealed. Taking things to a new level is Cards In Place. It is mesmerizing all the way through. It starts with the pounding of drums and the pings of guitar which make the perfect basis for the vocals to then blow you away. Almost chant like vocals holler all the way through, with some backing screams introduced to give an even greater effect. This is the perfect track for a large arena/stadium crowd to belt out at the top of their lungs and the stand out track for the EP.

Next on the agenda is Nothing At All, hitting out with some more tough guitar strumming and echoing keys and concluding with more great chants. Hold On Me moves a little slower and relies much more on atmospherics within the melodies, almost haunting like sounds are produced through this one - but the strong strumming does make an appearance at times. Opening with the rolling of drums, Solo, So Low is slicker than previous tunes while the concluding track to the EP Good Morning closes with as much aggression and enthusiasm as it opened.

Combining indie and alternative sounds with the occasional harder more metal element every now and again, it's a shame there are only six tracks within this EP as it seems we are just scratching the surface of what Sights & Sounds are producing...
