Soaring To New Heights
Gledhill are something very special in comparison to some of the newer bands to saturate the music industry in recent years. Almost like Idlewild in composition and vocals, the band will easily take you on a dreamy, affectionate journey with their single 'Remain'.
Tinged with sadness but strangely uplifting, they're a band of contrasts. The beauty of their softly spoken music is a far cry from the legend behind their band name- modelled on the lead singer's ancestors who trained birds to kill their enemies' eyes out. Luckily, Gledhill are far more polite and produce the kind of music even your mother would be hard pushed to call hard to listen to. 'Remain' is a soaring, ambitious song, although it's agreeable running time manages to somehow pause time and create something so diverse that it's a wonder the band only formed a year ago.
If you're looking for an uplifting change from the music industry's obsession with death and all things gloomy, you may well have found your saviours in the making.
