Depeche Mode - Precious

When you take a Depeche Mode single out of it's box for the first time having not heard it before, you can never be certain which kind of Depeche Mode you're going to get. They have so many styles and sounds to their name that you could be just as likely to get a dark and moody melodic guitar based track such as 'Dream On', a rock song like 'Personal Jesus' or an electronic based number along the lines of 'It's no good' or the most recent remix of 'Enjoy the Silence'. From the very first second of hearing a depeche mode single you know exactly where you are and in this case they're following on from the dance theme of their remix album a year ago.

There are a million and one different remixes of this track, the main radio edit and presumably the album version of 'Precious' is their traditional electronic sound, however the pick of the bunch is the Sasha remix. This is an excellent club record, which retains the main body of the song, but the dance treatment takes it in a new direction and most likely to a new audience that may not otherwise have taken an interest in a new Depeche Mode release. The various interpretations of this track have clearly hit the spot with many as it entered the chart on its first week of release at number four.

The band will embark on a massive tour in 2006 and with another top ten single under their belt and a new album about to be unleashed, one of the UK's biggest bands are back at the top where they belong.
