This time its Amerika on Rammstein’s dinner menu.

There is something decidedly strange about the latest offering from those grubby German blokes collectively referred to as Rammstein. It can’t be found in the strange samples that litter their songs, in the growling guitars or the delicate keyboard work - for these, although brilliant, are highly typical of the standard Rammstein single. No, the unnerving quality this song has is all down to the fact that Till Lindemann does not sing in entirely in German. Unlike many bands who sing in a language other than their mother tongue, Rammstein do not attempt to sound English even on the odd occasion when they decide to borrow our language. The delivery of their Bush-Baiting lyrics is very much in their usual style - meaning both the die hard Rammstein fans as well as those just looking for an unusual, catchy tune will both be happy. This is one of several outstanding tracks on their latest album and will easily earn a place beside the addictive drive of ‘Links 2 3 4’ thanks to their brutal guitar work and uncompromising drumming.

For those out there who cannot get beyond the fact that for most of the time Rammstein sing only in German, Amerika could well be the bait that is needed for people to grasp onto so they can look through beyond the sweaty German words and discover the hypnotic sharpness of their vicious onslaught of military precision.
