Totally believable single from new Kids label band Mighty Six Ninety, worth checking out.

Emerging seminal record label Kids' latest big thing is this band from San Diego, Mighty Six Ninety. The new single 'Believable' will be available on a strictly limited edition 7" and on iTunes, to be released on March 13th. The band are influenced by The Smiths and you can really tell, the syntax of the lyrics and inflection of Rich Gardner's voice both resemble Morrissey poignantly, but it's no bad thing as the song is very good. Catchy, with more of a sunshine feel to it than The Smiths displayed in their music.

Apart from a strange one-second meltdown in the first chorus, the song travels very cohesively and is strong in structure and delivery, it's just basically good. The B-side is the result of an experiment in combining Alkaline Trio with The Smiths; a very Trio verse and complete Smiths chorus with refrain going "I am tired and dangerously bored..." also a very listenable number.

Coming complete with striking artwork from Brooklyn-based graffiti artist John 'Crash' Matos, which is eye-catchingly delicious, you can't really go wrong if you get on to the record stores quickly and pre-order this single on vinyl, after the success of iLiKETRAiNS and Paper Cuts, both on Kids already, one has to expect that Mighty Six Ninety will follow suit. Get in on this...
