Feel Good Inc.

After a long, stressful week at the office it's rather comforting to return home to the strains of "I Feel It" the new single from Norwegian outfit Lorraine. This superior slice of electronic pop is a welcome introduction to a band who traded in "Prodigy influenced electro metal" for an altogether more atmospheric, heartfelt brand of music that references the legendary New Order and Kraftwerk.

On this single taken from the band's forthcoming debut album the trio of Ole Gunnar Gundersen (vox), Anders Winsents (guitar) and Paal Myran-Haaland (keyboards / programming) aided and abetted by a drum machine weave a patchwork of influences into a refreshing whole that sits somewhere between the Radiohead-isms of fellow Scandinavians Kent and the pristine pop of A-Ha. While this is hardly the most original record you'll hear all year it's certainly one of the most refreshing. Like a chilly wind blowing in from the North Sea, Lorraine have arrived to blow away all the preening electro-pop chancers who value style above substance.
