Those super-cool Scots Belle and Sebastian release their second single from their Top 10 album The Life Pursuit, 'The Blues Are Still Blue' is it, it's a neat little number with groovy runs of the guitar and drums and a great vocal melody over the top, with chipper lyrics and a damn catchy chorus.
Walking along after having listened to this track you'll come to the peculiar realisation that it is stuck immovably in your mind and no matter how much you shake your head, fill your ears with other tunes or stand screaming at the top of your voice, it won't leave you.
With a few great B-sides also, including the wicked 'Mr. Richard', the suped-up Stereolab-esque album title track 'The Life Pursuit' and a quality cover of Thin Lizzy's classic 'Whiskey In Jar', you're certainly getting your money's worth with this single. Belle and Sebastian are at the top of their game currently and 'The Blues Are Still Blue' is a perfect example of this.
