Ordinary boys

Swedish four piece The Perishers return here with the third single to be taken from their new album "Let There Be Morning". Unfortunately it's a rather forgettable affair that should be boxed up with all the other sub-Coldplay nonsense infecting the UK singles chart right now.

The twinkling melody that holds "Trouble Sleeping" together owes more than a little to Radiohead's "Karma Police" and the overall introspective, angst ridden tone recalls a less poppy, more anaemic Snow Patrol. Matters are not really improved any by Ola Klüft's insubstantial reedy vocals which lack any of the bite necessary to raise this tune above the distinctly ordinary.

It's not difficult to envisage the band's music soundtracking angst ridden teen dramas like "The O.C." and "One Tree Hill" but when this kind of thing is being done with so much more aplomb by Longview, Snow Patrol, Keane et al. it begs the question "do we really need any more bands who feed from the scraps on Chris Martin's table?".
