The song does go gently though.

With a sound and pace built for the hot summer days we are experiencing at the moment, Four Day Hombre hope that 'Don't Go Gently' manages to wake enough people up from the summer siesta and get them excited.

After a while and repeated listens, the track gets more life, at first, it glides by without causing any offence. Sure there are twists and turns but its all been done before and lets be fair, did more excitedly.

However, after a while, the backing vocals start to prick up the ears and inject some life into the song. The plodding verse becomes more of a restrained precursor to the chorus where the tempo change ups the ante a bit.

The vocals of lead singer Simon Wainwright (who should try and cash in on the surname like all the other Wainwrights) are not astounding but they do the job and certainly have the measure of the bands that Four Day Hombre would consider as rivals and peers.

They may claim Leeds as a home but are as far removed from what the public perception of what a Leeds band entails as Leeds United are from the heady days they experienced in the mid 90's. To all non-football fans out there (which probably includes Leeds United fans) that's a great deal indeed.

With two live tracks as the bonus, both of which meander by and are probably a great bonus for all the bands dedicated fan base, its an interesting single, well worth a listen but it may not be enough to catch the attention of the listening public....yet.
