Here we go again

'Bringing Back Those Memories' is surely just what we need, yet another song celebrating England's 1966 World Cup win. Great.

Re-released as a single it capitalises on Mark Joseph's recent chart success that has seen him make inroads into the top 40. To be fair, of all the recent football related songs this is probably one of the best. The lyrics don't appear to mention any names of footballers and if it weren't for the press release stating so, you probably wouldn't realise it had any relevance to football at all.

In style it's light-hearted indie but has good, full production behind behind it. Joseph's vocals come across well and suit the style of music. In places the song has shades of the Lightning Seeds about it, it's fairly catchy and mid tempo but at the same time it's fairly standard. There's not a lot to dislike about it but neither is there much to get excited about either, there's nothing on offer here that hasn't been done although he does it well. So the World Cup is over for another 4 years and in all honesty it's probably going to be at least that long before I'll dig this one out of the racks again.
