Oh yeah...forgot about them!

Seafood are entering into their tenth year as a band, and are marking the moment with the release of their fifth album 'Paper Crown King'.

A few years ago it seemed as if Seafood were one single away from breaking through into the mainstream, at that time they couldn't take advantage of the fact that every British band with a guitar or two were being tipped for greatness as seems to be the case now and somehow they never quite made it.

One thing that will have held them up is the health problems of David Line, who suffered a collapsed lung while on stage in Germany in 2004. Ten months of head scratching on the part of doctors resulted in him effectively having his lung superglued to the front of his body.

With Dave back in action and the band ready to release album number five, Seafood are unleashing 'Signal Sparks' as the first single from it on July 31st.

They seem more mellow than I remember them, for this is a track which sits nicely alongside acts like Starsailor, Longview and Chord. That said the track does build to a powerful and rocking chorus and the b-side, 'Bad Flag' is an altogether rockier offering.

The interesting thing about this track is how much of a live atmosphere there is to it. This is something the band have worked towards and they've certainly pulled it off with success, I can almost imagine being in the tent at Reading where I saw them first back in 2001.

Hopefully this single will get Seafood more of the attention they deserve as it's great to have them back.
