Smart Melodic Rock
Edgy, jangly rock with unrestrained vocals and a definite rock energy, Circlesound could be rising towards something big. The band have already won XFM's X-Posure Unsigned and their cutting sound is catchy and constantly moving.
'Feel The Energy' kicks off with a spooky guitar hook rubbing against the build up of dense chords later on, a soaring chorus with a radio-friendly feel certainly makes you feel like this band are onto something. 'Seven Days' slips in some overdriven guitars, which capture a certain emptiness in singer David Lloyd's vocals in the verse, before a smashing chorus, which could shake even the Download main stage! An amazing, blazing guitar solo closes this solid slice of heavy, melodic rock.
'What A War' is euphoric and epic; the band are tighter than Justin Hawkin's catsuit and the brooding sound of Lloyd's voice has a certain authority that really makes you pay attention to this compulsive rock anthem. The quirky handclaps on 'Can't Blame Me' make it a jaunty, indie rocker full of charisma and nonchalance, the guitars sway and kick up their own eloquent fuss in the background.
Faultless rock songs with an instant attraction, Circlesound are one to watch in the rock ring this year, especially as they're currently recording their debut album.
