Foot-tapping indie pop from the Swedish singer songwriter

Swedish singer songwriter Tobias Froberg returns with the new single, 'When The Night Turns Cold', taken from his second album, 'Somewhere in the City'.

"We must have spent over one hundred days in the recording studio, making 'Somewhere in the city'," claims Tobias Froberg, "there are songs on the album that we worked with for over one and a half years. It´s insane when I think of it, since we´re certainly not after some kind of Toto-perfection. But we are really, really pleased with the result. Our goal was not to make just another singer songerwriter-album, we had other plans. And I believe we got it..."

In spite of its meticulous conception, as it opens with the frantic tapping of bongo drums, 'When The Night Turns Cold' has an organic, unpolished sound, accentuated by the gentle ripple and rock of acoustic guitar and the introduction of Froberg's slightly tentative-yet-vulnerable vocals. Despite the fact that the twinkling xylophone sounds strangely like the theme music to Channel Four's Big Breakfast, the big, swelling backing vocals, finger-clicked beats and swirling keys add some depth as the track grows into a cute and catchy piece of foot-tapping indie pop with a chorus that will stick in your head like glue.
