A solid track from Brigade

Hailing from London, this 4 piece indie-rock band are out to make some noise. This single has only one track on it, but after listening to their myspace page, it seems that 'Guillotine' is not their only serving of rock fayre.

'Guillotine' is another song firmly in the brit-indie-rock category and there's little else to it. It's well produced and does sound solid. The vocals are quite reminiscent of Placebo in a few places, though only very occasionally. The vocals do get a little too squeeky though it doesn't have the definitive style of Brian Molko, and is somewhat derivative . There are some quiet parts, some nice guitar effects and the whole thing is solid. Overall, if you know a little about this genre, there's nothing new here, nor nothing too catchy or memorable but it does sound solid and well made.

I believe this band has more to them than just 'Guillotine'. I was a little bored by the song but it was made clear with a bit of background checking that there's more to this band than this CD presents. It seems like they want to go heavy in places and yet they don't. They aren't too emo either. They are, 'Just Right' though I think this track is possibly not a good example of their potential.
