Great New Single

As the world awaits the brand new compilation album from U2, due to be released 20th November, one of the tracks on that album is being released as a digital download as well as the usual formats on November 6th.

'The Saints Are Coming' is a collaboration with Green Day, recorded at the famous London Abbey Road studios in September. Produced by the pioneering Rick Rubin and consists of a U2/Green Day rendition of The Skids' 'The Saints Are Coming'. Proceeds from 'The Saints Are Coming' will benefit Music Rising, a charity working with musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the Gulf region.

The U2/Green Day collaboration on 'The Saints Are Coming' is a fantastic reinterpretation of the original song. From the opening strains of 'House of the Rising Sun' in to the distinctive guitars of U2 and Green Day. The vocals provided by Bono and Billie Joe Armstrong are not as gruff as you would expect but are brilliant and melodic.

U2 guitarist The Edge: "My visits to New Orleans gave me a firsthand look at the devastation which tragically destroyed the lives of thousands. The area's rich and spirited culture must continue to be restored."

Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong; "One year later, people continue to be devastated by Katrina's effects. We hope that by collaborating with U2, we'll remind the public that people of the Gulf Coast are still suffering and still need help to rebuild their lives."
