A little more GRRR would go a long way

One of my pet hates when writing reviews is receiving releases that sound ok but have very little spark about them. Discs that are neither good nor bad. Songs that are just 'there' and have little impact on one's life for better or for worse. The latest example of this is this new CD from 'Sondura'. It's a nice and safe, pretty standard, post Creed collection of tunes that doesn't leave you with a nasty taste in the mouth but yet fails to thrill because of it's bland normality.

The mantle of E.P is somewhat of a con sometimes. This E.P is only ten minutes long spanning only three tracks. Surely this is a single with two B-sides, but I'm not going to argue this point, I'd just thought I'd mention it. I understand the title track 'Lights Out' will be aired on the Scuzz channel on the 17th November in the 'New Blood' section of the channel's listings. I can think of no better audience for Sondura than the music channel watching public. I think the band will have huge appeal because for the uninspiring nature of the song it's actually fairly likable and I can see very few people switching to Kerrang when it finally reaches the video waves.

The band aren't particularly heavy, the production is pretty safe, and have the niceties of Nickelback mixed with the grit of Bush, which has probably put most of you off already. They're certainly a million miles away from the press-release claim of '...crushing, belligerent, sonic might of black-era Metallica.'

I've no doubt that Sondura will make a name for themselves. They seem to be tailor made for the kids who watch the music Channels 24/7. Of course there's nothing wrong with this, and I wish them every success, but from this reviewers point of view a little more GRRRRRRRRRRRR in their riffery, attitude and production would go a long way. I've heard it all before, but I reckon they could sell a truckload in America. Aim for the US guys, you'll go down a storm.
