Poor second single from sleazy dolls

Although I like to claim an open mind, I must admit that after reading the Sohodoll's press release and learning of their lyrics such as "tainted, horny, twisted, thorny" and other gems such as the description "electro synths with hard-as-nails beats, dog's-bollocks-guitars" I really didn't expect much from this single. My low expectations were not surpassed after listening to a song which sounds like the musical accompaniment to a 1980s 'erotic' thriller performed by a low-rent Goldfrapp. The synth sound doesn't strike as retro so much as embarrassingly dated, and the whole mood the song creates is one of softcore porn. Clearly this a band who think of themselves as sexy, but their try-hard tactics strike more as desperation, particularly as the quotes from the band's lead singer all seem eager to stress their sexual hunger.

With other reviewers summing up the band with words like seedy, nasty and bolshy there is little else to say here. This single will appeal if you like your music as dated and uninspiring as it is desperate to be considered sexy, but for those of us who like a more subtle message you're best avoiding a band whose debut single was called 'Stripper'.
