Sizzling Punk That Sticks

Searing squeals, raging beats and percussion that's so tight it can barely breathe are all essential components of this electric anthem from funky brittle punkstars The Mighty Roars. 'Sellotape' is sure to stick like its namesake to Britain's dancefloors with singer Lara a new fresh grrrl messiah for an age where we like our rock ladies sincere and swaggering, but preferably without a drug habit and celebrity boyfriend.

B-side 'Jude & Sienna' is another cool number in a brutally current zeitgeist; a tune washed with careening vocals and wandering guitars that cruise on some far out plain in contemplation of the tormented celebrity couple du jour. The charming mix of drifting melodic meandering and yelping vocals is an aural delight that simmers with excitement. It's been years since riffs this visceral have kicked behind a frontwoman so bold and tunes this mind-bendingly addictive; with an album out in January, it looks like The Mighty Roars will be packing punches for a long time to come.
