Quality Brit power-pop.
The Ripps have very English sounding vocals, however the main bass riff on new single 'Loco' is very definitely a homage to cult American band Pixies, ah well. Even so, it's a short but sweet power pop tune that's got an upbeat summery feel and enough hooks to make it memorable and best of all it's really, really catchy. The song comes in at a little over two minutes so it doesn't outstay its welcome, in fact it leaves you wanting more and the sheer energy and fun in the tune is a welcome breath of fresh air.
The B side of this single release is a cover of The Specials 'Too Much Too Young' and surprisingly, even though they don't really do much different with it, it's pretty good. The energy level the band brings to their music brings out the best in this classic tune. Not bad at all.
