One may be the loneliest number, three may be the magic number, 23 may have an almighty amount of spiritual and mythical links to it but its undeniable that there is something about the number 7.
The Magnificent 7 easily springs to mind and theres the secret seven and theres also the seven year period that The number 7 Larsson graced Scottish shores so perhaps there is a little bit of magic in this number. The All New Adventures of Us would certainly hope so as their seven members bash away at their allotted instruments and manage to convey sadness and hope but more importantly, of a band with a plan ahead.
Maybe its just the general progression of these things but there are a lot of acts who evoke memories of Bloc Party these days, combining the sharp and taut guitar stabs with the high and passionate vocals. That's not to say that is all that TANAOU have to offer but its an easy reference point for any listeners and provides an immediate hook.
Theres a melancholic edge to this pop offering, you can almost feel a sigh coming from the vocals and a shrug of the vocals, not in any overly sad way but just a feeling that something may have been lost or changed. The lyrics have that sense of hope and spirit running through them as well and overall theres just about a punch the air and feel good quality about the song, hope triumphs over the sadness.
