Unswerving complicatedness

Mastodon release this from their rather brilliant album 'Blood Mountain', it's the radio edit at 3:55, the full length version on the album is 4:20 so where did the 25 seconds go? Well from a few places that make it a little less airwave friendly, like the slightly growly voice just before the chorus's.

The thing is if you're used to the album version this sounds a little rushed, like it's trying to get to the end as quickly as possible, the pacing of the song is all changed somewhat so I definitely prefer the album version. However, that's not the point of a single is it? This will get played on the radio and TV thus advertising the band to a wider audience and without a cut version of the song then there just wouldn't be that coverage because as everyone knows once a song gets over four minutes the audience will change the channel. Well they wont but the suits think they will.

So if you've heard this anywhere and fallen for it's complicated, metal charms then go out and instead of spending £2.50 on the single spend £10 on the album instead, it's a cracker and £10 is a trip to McDonalds at the end of the day, so this will make you thinner and entertain you a lot more than a scary man dressed as a clown.
