Currently Mediocre

Two years ago four lads from the South Wales valleys got together to form The Apparatus. In 2006 they won support on the local music circuit, and 2007 sees them with a load of new songs under their belt and a debut EP in stores.

'Matter Of Time' is an eight track release that shows off the band's aggressive vocals, fast paced drumming and impressive bass and guitar work. Although you can hear that the band know their way around their instruments and are talented musicians there is nothing outstanding about this release. The work is mediocre, maybe it would seem more impressive if there weren't so many bands coming out today, maybe it would sound better if it was being performed live, who knows. All I do know is that 'Matter Of Time' isn't something to rave about.
The thing that stands out most about The Apparatus is Rhys Edwards' vocal work; I thought it was a female voice. When the CD started playing the voice jumping out at me sounded like Courtney Love or Brody Armstrong, although later on Edwards' voice does take a more nasal tone.

The Apparatus have a lot of potential but this release is just like any other run of the mill EP, I think we can safely say that LostProphets crown as the kings of Welsh rock is safe.
