Getting Ready To Rumble For Weeks To Come

This track is already shaping up to be one of the indie anthems of the summer.

Reverend and the Makers are the latest in an ever growing list of Sheffield exports, and are already lurking in the shadows of the Arctic Monkeys having been on tour with Alex Turner and co in 2006. But this is where the comparison ends for 'Heavyweight Champion of the World' is a much more electronic based track, it would not be unreasonable to describe it as being retro of the highest order. Imagine if the Charlatans, New Order and the Stereo MCs made a record together, there are aspects of all three of those classic British bands in what will be viewed in years to come as an alternative classic of 2007.

Already getting the remix treatment, this is a song that will dominate the festivals this summer and the club scene for months after.

The B-side is of equal standing, '18-30' follows the retro pattern set by 'Heavyweight Champion'. There's also an amusing slab of poetry courtesy of John Cooper Clarke. 'Last Resort' tells of bad experiences at the seaside, one too many shit holidays on the coast of England...we've all had one!

Reverend and the Makers have just been added to the Carling Stage at this year's Reading and Leeds and are a must see. They've come up with one of this year's best singles in 'Heavyweight Champion of the World'.
