One For The Fans

Recoup may have taken their time to get to this track, but was it worth the wait? Err...it would depend on your taste in music. To a hard rock fan this may seem like a huge disappointment but if you're fond of a dance and into electro, you'll love it.

This track, 'Remind You' is from an album that has taken a long time to come. Opening with a rising swell of electronica and doom ridden guitar atmospherics, gives a mysterious yet enjoyful start to a tune that actually gets worse as it goes on. Most songs that have disappointing verses have a chorus that will pull listeners back in. Not this one. Pieter Theron sings in an unhappy manner, sounding as if he is the only one with any problems. The vocals here are disappointing, as they are low and unsettling. You can only just make them out beneath that annoying tune, as they are berried beneath mountains of music.

'Remind You' is a decent enough song, if you're into this type of music. A song influenced by the impact we humans have on earth, Recoup thought it would be appropriate to use recycled products for the CD sleeve - crisp packets and card, how cleaver. So as well as having to listen to such music, you'll end up having a recycled crisp packet, possibly smelling of cheese and onion in your bedroom. Have to admit though; the package catches the eye, with its reflective foil cover. Recoup, ever thought of giving up music and becoming environmentalists?
