The Pumpkins Make A Smashing Return!

Billy Corgan's caressing, nasal voice makes a striking comeback as the Smashing Pumpkins revive themselves and present their first single off of their new album 'Zeitgeist', 'Tarantula', eagerly awaited after a long absence from the world of rock.

Time has not worn rusty on their edge as the band deliver a fresh riff heavy sound, sounding matured and developed but still unmistakeably drenched in the classic Pumpkins style. The fast paced, driving riffs have an easy going attitude about them that will appeal to fans both old and new and with highly singable verses this song is incredibly infectious, burning its way into your head and becoming impossible to budge. Billy Corgan's song writing skills have also developed further and as always display a talent for writing touching and meaningful lyrics that compliment the upbeat feel of the track. James Iha's guitar solo also provides a breathtaking, grounding point for the direction of the music and is beautifully executed throughout sections of the closing verse as well.

Although far from the mysterious sound of 'Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness', 'Tarantula' is a promising track and is proof that the Smashing Pumpkins are as strong and resilient as ever and if 'Tarantula' is anything to go by, 'Zeitgeist' looks set to be a strong and outstanding comeback album full of ultimate summer anthems.
