Air Traffic are Superb.
We've had countless bands come along and right passionate music and beautiful melodies stole from the very depths of the heart but where has it got them? Coldplay were shaken off as some kinds of emotional freaks, cast out by so-called "music magazines", like the NME, and rendered prohibited and Keane drank themselves into the limelight and sunk to the depths of despair and rehab, (NME, once again, played their part in having the music population turn on them). Then along come Athlete; they're fresh and to a degree promising but they haven't exactly been embraced with open arms and open hearts, as much as they would have liked to.
So come Air Traffic, and they don't fall to far from the whole soppy pop-rock style, which is clearly not too favourable at the moment. In fact, they could be considered as slap-bang in the middle of the dreaded genre, but what makes them different is that they've got a certain likeability about them. Their melodies are crisp and they have cracked that popular sound, that people are crying out for right now.
"No More Running Away" is an expression of this bands originality, of their endeavour and of their magnificence. Harmonious instrumentation, a soft and wonderful vocal tone, and some elevated but lovely lyrics. Air Traffic are superb.
