Fruity
The Troubadors emerged from Wigan and Liverpool and like many that have gone before seek to build on the regions rich musical history.
What they have come up with is indie jingle jangle niceties that combine the groove of the Zutons with the melody of the Coral and their late 60s forerunners. Oh it's alright but amongst the dirge of indie washing against your ears on a daily basis is this really going to be the one that stands out for you? Well perhaps but it lacks a really catchy chorus, the result of which is the main riff and vocal line becoming somewhat irritating after a while with it's repetitions. In fact it's very reminiscent of The Pipkins 1970 hit 'Gimme Dat Ding', which you are probably familiar with from various TV adverts.
It's a step up from the pained whining brigade and it moves along nicely with something of an edge but you still get the feeling they could do something more. 'Gimme Love' is backed with 'Here Comes the Tide' and again it's decent enough, blending some nice 60s pop influences with a slight Madchester vibe. Likeable but not really exciting.
