Ramblers and explorers take note.

"Hide & Sleep" is one of those songs that you should listen to on headphones in winter while exploring ruined castles in a frost or snow. It has no value whatsoever as an exciting or even scintillating record, but it does inspire your thoughts and focuses them onto other deeper things.

Normally this kind of thing is just plain annoying. Songs without a point that drone on in the background are best suited at god awful compilation albums marketed at nightclubbers coming down from their ecstasy highs. But there is not a lot to dislike about "Hide & Sleep". The music is slow but deep and thoughtful and the double tracked vocals (normally something of a pet hate) add colour to the otherwise stark sound.

"Hide & Sleep" is not the kind of thing that you'd play on a stereo with others, but this is something that in itself should be praised. The subtleties make up for the lack of excitement and the fact that one can have a personal experience is to be applauded. Not for everyone, sure, but those that investigate will be pleasantly surprised
