Festive Fun

While most bands are pouring out cheesy Christmas hits and covers, The Killers have their own take on the festive season with, 'Don't Shoot Me Santa', a dialogue between a young boy and St Nicholas that quickly turns awry when the deep-voiced, whisky-swigging Santa reveals that he has a gun. In true Killers style it's a glittery affair that shimmies along with ringing bells, shuffling guitar rhythms and a sufficient hint of southern grit to give this malicious Santa the necessary menace. The tune transforms from a languid, slushy ode to Christmas into an indie disco frenzy as Santa transforms from hero to a villain.

It's certainly one of the most original takes on the Christmas hit, The Killers might have been watching too many horror films, or the Doctor Who Christmas Special, but this is essentially a fun and frothy tune, capturing the spirit of Christmas, infact a battle between The Killers killer Santa and that XFactor number one would be very welcome. An added bonus is that a portion of the proceeds of the single go to Project Red, so if you're still feeling festive, get behind one of the few original tunes out this season!
