Lenny Kravitz - It Is Time For A Love Revolution

Kravitz is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who play virtually all the instruments present on his eighth release ‘It Is Time For A Love Revolution’.

The album kicks off with an upbeat repetitive guitar riff of ‘Love Revolution,’ which guides the track well. This high standard of production and creativity flows though the albums tracks. There are other upbeat numbers like ‘Bring It On’ with a similar repetitive riff as its predecessor, but with a more wavy rhythm. The electric guitars solos are precisely that and keep an interesting flow of sound. ‘Dancin' Til Dawn’ has an electric tip-top beat with a saxophone adding more of a jazzy feel and ‘Love Love Love’ has that edge to the beat that makes you shake and pop your shoulders to the beat supplied.

There are also slower tracks, which are some of the most inspiring and moving songs on the album. There is the slow jam ‘Good Morning’ with its strings while ‘New Door’ is a piano lead track where the strings add to the quiet and placid atmosphere. Likewise, ‘Long And Sad Goodbye’ has piano melodies making the track more emotional, elevating when guitar kicks in and adds even more feelings than before. The strings add some more intense moments.

Vocals are pretty much what Kravitz has been supplying listeners with since he broke into the industry. There are some excellent lyrical lines. ‘Back In Vietnam’ has the catchy “We’re back In Vietnam” chant, the ballad ‘I Want To Go Home’ has the “I want to, I want to go home, I just wanna get along with my life” within its catchy chorus, but the most sensational feelings come within ‘Long And Sad Goodbye’. Here the lines “papa, why did you turn your back, why didn’t you stay on track, why did you leave and make her cry, papa, you meant the world to me, why did you abandon me, now it’s a long and sad goodbye” put across some rather heartbreaking feelings. This is one of the prominent tracks on the album.

Others include ‘If You Want It’ with its slower style, electric guitar solo adding a running rhythm while still remaining emotional with its slower vocals emanating an inner touching effect on a listener. The other, ‘I'll Be Waiting’ was the first single to be released and is a wonderful mix of all you want to hear within a soppy ballad. The only disappointing element I found within the entire album was the synthesizing squeaks present within ‘Will You Marry Me’. Without this, the track would be quite something, but the squeak made my ears ache. All in all, an emotional impact will be felt on any listener.
