High-pitched alt indie

Grammatics do high pitched alt-indie some pretty catchy justice. It's a little too emo for its own good, but they are accomplished enough to make it work. I'd like to see them experiment a little more, and move their lyrics into more of a storytelling mode, rather than a repetitive choral one.

They have a string player, too, which is rather fun and gives the vocals more of a fluid sonic quality that is quite nice. I'm not sure if I'd dance to it unless the lyrics got faster and more inane, though. "D.I.L.E.M.M.A." is a great track because the girl singer chants those seven letters over and over again in this really weird robot voice, and I like robots and girls.

Track lengths and sonic landscapes are reminiscent of Raising the Fawn from Toronto, but a little less screamy. This band could use some more non-sensical passion, but other than that it's a pleasurable listen.
