The delightful sounds of Mark Ruebery

In a world where X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent seem to be diminishing our music industry of talented singers, songwriters and musicians, we become thankful for strong willed, creative, artistic, innovative and refreshing artists such as Mark Ruebery.

Since grasping onto a guitar at a very early age, Ruebery knew instantly he was destined for great things. Since graduating he has been in a few bands, taught guitar but most importantly, fashioned some of the most touching and inspirational tracks ever heard. His debut album is an album of his life where he has written and co-produced each and every track, while at the same time, playing nearly all instruments and is releasing the album independently.

These four songs provide a listener with a sneak peak of the ingenious talent behind the name. His impassioned songs are a mix of classic rock with a pure ballad environment. ‘It Goes And Comes Around’ is the lead single and is so strong in its nature. It is musically straightforward, lyrically simplistic while at the same time having some truthful more acoustic moments. ‘Something Opens Windows’, which is written about leaving your past behind and heading in new directions, has a heartfelt guitar based line, making your eyes water and lips tremble for unknown reasons.

The semi acoustic ‘Someday’ is like lying in the sun on a warm summers day. Hands clapping along with the optimistic, bouncy and bright atmosphere just make you want to sing a long. Lastly is the slightly darker and more emotional feeling towards ‘Burning Inside’. The mix of musical elements and the sturdy vocals and harmonies make far a wonderful listen to a track about love and passion.

The passionate vocals of this young chap sound so familiar, but I can’t pin point the familiarity. Anyway, after listening to these four tracks, I yearn for more.
