Goldfrapp's June UK tour is completely sold out, proving that the euphoric electro group haven't lost their touch in the commercial arena, but is their new single up to critic's standards? Well, it's already been branded the sound of the summer by one Sunday paper and it manages to combine soothing summer strains and an upbeat pop melody that's always moving forward. There are synth sparkles, dreamy harmonies and a glossy finish; it's a sparkling tune that's subtly inspiring, although nowhere near as instant as Goldfrapp's previous hits. With several festival slots over the summer, I imagine, 'Caravan Girl' will be a blissful anthem to kick start the happy go lucky festival feel at locations across the UK.
Happy pop with ethereal tones that's smooth on the ear and delightfully uplifting, 'Caravan Girl' is sure to go far, although it may not stick in your brain for hours afterwards.
