Bec and Beth - Bec and Beth EP

If you are a fan of the impressive The Hot Puppies, if not why not, then you will be licking your lips at the release of this delightful EP. Bec Wood and Beth Gibson the girls from The Hot Puppies release a very limited edition EP with four tracks showcasing their vocal and keyboard talents.

Recorded in Bec’s flat and with a mix of covers and new songs, the EP is a bold move without the guys but they have produced a classy effort of songs full of lost love and heartache. The four track EP starts delightfully with Burt Bacharach’s “Anyone Who Had A Heart” made famous by Cilla Black and Dionne Warwick in the sixties and we immediately discover Bec’s show stopping vocal prowess.

The second track is a The Smiths cover “Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Loved Me” sees Beth playing gracefully on a grand piano and the pair cover the song well enough to for the Smiths fans to have no complaints. The third song is called “French Song” because, well it is song completely in French! Although there may be a couple of mistakes in their grammar the song is a beautiful short sad piece about a love ending. The Ep closes with “I’m Making Believe” taken from the film Sweet and Lowdown from 1944.

With the release of The Hot Puppies eagerly anticipated second album, Blue Hands, later this year it sure is exciting times for the duo. There are only 500 copies of this limited edition release being made and would make a welcome addition in your record collection.
