Be The One

You have to wonder when record labels decide enough is enough. 'Be The One' is the fourth single to be released from the platinum selling album 'We Started Nothing', despite coming out in May. Whilst the likes of 'Great DJ' and 'That’s Not My Name' proposed some modicum of excitement, their latest offering falls flat.

Strangely, the previously successful traits remain; simple drum beat? check, catchy, feminine entrenched chorus? indeed. After figuring out their ever so clear formula, this just sounds tedious in comparison. A gently strummed guitar hides sheepishly behind Kate White’s delicate vocals and only a child’s play keyboard provides anything new.

Delivering more schmaltz than stimulus, the track at least brings an air of variance to the band’s repertoire though little else. 'Be The One' could well be their lighter song, or the lull in their live set to grab your next pint. The question that Katie White frequently asks can be pointed straight back; what ARE you going to offer now?
