Andrew Morris - Longbeach EP
With comparisons of David Gray and James Blunt being bounded around freely it does immediately put the pressure on Andrew Morris to deliver the goods in a very big way on his second EP, Longbeach. While those two previously mentioned names may not be considered regular players on any CD player in this part of Room Thirteen, what can be said is that listening to this London based singer certainly does not make me want to throw the CD player out of the window like his comparisons do.
In fact Andrew Morris has made some real nice tunes here on this five track EP, from the livelier opener, 'Miss You In The Night', to the slow 'Innocent', which sees a stripped down band which is basically just Andrew Morris vocal and guitar talents put out there on display. Obviously all the songs have the same theme of love and lost love but done well and in different styles, like the upbeat tune of the finale, 'A Thousand Miles'.
All in all it is a good EP and a worthy addition to your collection if this is your style but I can not help in thinking there are better singer song writers out there with more variety and real class, Nell Bryden being a classic case.
