The legends that are New York Dolls are to enter the studio in January according to Roadrunner Records.

The seminal punk rock artists are to begin recording their much-anticipated comeback album, which will be tentatively due next spring. The line up on the record is to be made up of founding members David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain, with Steve Conte on guitar, Sami Yaffa bass, Brian Delaney drums and Brian Koonin playing keyboards.

The Dolls reformed in 2004 at the request of Morrissey, who invited them to play at the Royal Festival Hall during the run of concerts that he was organizing. They also appeared at the Carling Weekend Reading and Leeds Festivals over the August bank holiday. The same year, original bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane died suddenly from leukemia. He was preceded in death by guitarist Johnny Thunders and drummer Jerry Nolan.

The band have spent the last few months touring North America while continuing to write material for their first new studio album since 1974's 'Too Much Too Soon'.
