Illdisposed tour '05

When you go to a heavy-metal gig you know more or less what you are about to see and hear: powerful sound, heavy riffs, fans jumping all over the place, etc.
Well, Illdisposed did more than that.

Fortunately they were all more or less sober so the Brighton mess did not happen again. (One of the guitarists happened to be totally hammered on that particular night, and the singer had to turn off his amplifier: rock’n’roll attitude I guess!).

One thing is for sure they have their very own particular music. The mix of classical and heavy guitar sounds, plus the dark and deep voice of the singer are a perfect match. This is probably thanks to their influence they take from all kinds of music: from A-Ha to Depeche Mode and of course other heavy metal bands.

Who else would have thought about using a U2 riff in one of their tracks? No one else but Illdisposed! And believe me it really made it! Batten (guitarist and music writer) was a real magician on his guitar. The notes were flowing and it was a pure delight.

Of course the other guys rocked but this classical sound they incorporate in the music is just fantastic. That’s when you understand why they are becoming bigger and bigger in Denmark, their home country: they are different.

At the Garage: no mess, just pure heavy sound and a perfect gig. The guys enjoyed themselves; they have been offered drinks while singing, interacted with the crowd. After all they just stick to their motto: have fun and most of all do not take yourself seriously. And that is what music should be and is all about.

You don’t need to be into heavy metal to enjoy their music and that is one of their strengths. Of course the singing part is more about shouting than really singing, but the musicality and the quality are there.

Unfortunately we will not see them at any festival this summer in the UK, but they are still touring around the rest of Europe and will attend some festivals there. So people what are you waiting for? GO AND GET THEIR ALBUM! And make them big in the UK so that we can see them again!
